Boiler Service Company Offers Rentals

Founded in 1947, Holman Boiler Works Inc., which has four locations throughout Texas, has been providing solutions to boiler owners by offering a wide range of 24/7 services and a commitment to quality and safety.

Known as the “boiler supermarket,” Holman Boiler Works helps its clients by providing a rental business unit that maintains a wide rental inventory of boilers and boiler equipment, which can be used in various applications in the petrochemical, food processing, paper processing, industrial cleaning and remediation industries. According to Roy Caldwell, manager of rentals and used equipment, Holman offers both skid mounted boilers and mobile steam for electric, fire tube and water tube boilers. The capacity for the equipment ranges from three horsepower units to units that have a capacity of 150,000 pounds per hour of steam.

Additionally, the company offers pumps, mobile water conditioning plants and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). By offering the additional equipment, Holman is able to provide its customers with the ability to make necessary repairs without bringing the plant down.

Holman also offers fast, efficient emergency steam from a modern fleet of fully equipped mobile steam plants, which, Caldwell said, offers several benefits to customers. Since the mobile steam plant is a selfcontained plant, electric, fuel and water hook ups are already within the system, which helps minimize the time required to install the unit into the customer’s application. Caldwell said that another benefit of the mobile steam plant is that Holman can provide a quick response to a customer’s emergency applications or unplanned outages.

A majority of Holman’s 65 rental boilers is located at its four Texas locations, which include Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Ten of the company’s units are stationed in Pennsylvania. With units in so many locations Holman’s equipment is delivered within a few hours or a few days depending on location of client and the size of the unit, which is a benefit to clients. “Most of the time, in the case of an emergency or unplanned outage on the part of a client’s process, they are looking to try to minimize the amount of time to be up and running again,” Caldwell said.

Guaranteeing customer satisfaction With onsite start up and technical capabilities, along with knowledgeable and experienced mechanics and control technicians, Holman Boiler Works’ rental business unit works to guarantee customer satisfaction on every job.

“We are onsite to not only start up the unit but to also offer the training to the people who will be continuing to operate the equipment,” Caldwell said. “We also try to provide the highest level of equipment reliability in the industry.”

Additionally, Holman’s service technicians are qualified to make onsite repairs to boilers and pressure parts. The capability to provide repair service and rental steam help make the company’s rental business unit unique and benefits clients by providing a comprehensive offering to the customer.

“For example, if the requirement for rental steam is required because of a customer’s equipment failure, we can provide not only the rental steam but we can also provide the services and labor to repair the part of the system that is causing the outage,” Caldwell said.

Holman Boiler Works’ rental business unit is currently in Phase I of a phased expansion of its fleet, which will benefit customers with a wider breadth of applications.

“In the near term we are adding additional mobile steam plants with larger capacities due to market demands and to avoid stock outs,” Caldwell said. “In the longer term we will add larger units, 75,000 to 150,000 pounds per hour in capability, and the emission equipment that will help our units meet the stringent emission requirements of today.” Included in the Phase I expansion is its new 500 horsepower mobile steam unit.
