Boiler Maker/Pipefitter
Top hand needed for boiler company. Must be experienced in boiler fabrication, retubing, pipe fitting and welding. Must meet all of the following requirements:
- Pass company's weld test
- Be able to travel
- Work in confined and elevated areas
- Be self motivated and have leadership abilities
Boilermaker:
Assembles boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications, using power tools and handtools: Reads blueprint to determine location and relationship of parts. Connects firetubes to heads or watertubes to drums and headers of boilers, by expanding and belling ends, using tube expander and beading ends, using power hammer. Drills and taps holes for installation of studs, using portable drill. Tightens bolts to assemble frames, using hand or power wrenches. Mounts casings of watertube boilers, or attaches davit heads, burners, or furnace casing to firetube boilers, using wrenches. Bolts or screws accessories, such as manholes, handholes, fans, gauges, and valves to vessel, using handtools or power wrenches. Replaces defective parts, using power wrenches, prying bars, or handtools. May install and repair refractory brick. May thread and install stay bolts, using pipe wrench and dies. May remove and replace rivets and caulk seams to repair riveted shells and structures, using pneumatic chisel, riveter, and caulking hammer. May cut out defective parts, using acetylene torch.
Pipefitter:
Primary Purpose: Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for boiler systems.
Typical Duties: Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. Inspects worksites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes will not cause structural weakness. Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. Cuts pipe, using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine. Threads pipe, using threading machine. Bends pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine. Assembles and installs variety of metal pipe and pipe-fitings. Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools. Tests piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. May weld holding fixtures to structural steel members.
Requirements: Workers should be able to: Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy; make decisions based on measurable criteria; and visualize objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings. Physically, workers must be able to: Work easily and skillfully with hands; lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; see well (either naturally or with correction); climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds; and stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Job Description:
- Must be able to propose changes to burner/boiler equipment, determine cost benefits by explaining or demonstrating cost benefits and operation improvements of boilers.
- Must be able to solve customer boiler equipment problems
- Ability to inspect boiler/burner pressure, temperature controls, materials and systems processes.
- Knowledgeable in industries codes for combustion safety.
- Sales engineering background preferred in fire tube and water tube boilers with strong technical competence.
Responsibilities:
Prospect and develop for incremental sales business. Coordinate the interface between customer and company functions including sales, billing, and service. Develop and review pricing policies for sales.
Able to respond with an extreme sense of urgency to meet customer emergency needs. Able to develop business out of customer needs by matching customer requirements with available equipment. Strong ability to value price and manage contract terms and conditions. Must be detail oriented and be able to organize individual boiler technical information into usable business information. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with production and mobile steam personnel, coordinate with sales people, as well as customers to maximize revenue and profit.
Requirements: Degree in Engineering discipline or related work experience accepted. PC literate to include Excel, Word and manufacturing database.
Preference to experience with boilers and the ability to identify potential customers, generate proposals and manage estimates; service existing customers and be able to identify and solve customer boiler needs from a techinical viewpoint; be detail oriented and have excellent technical and communication skills.

Holman Boiler Works, Inc. has an immediate opening for Boiler Technicians in our Dallas, Corpus Christi, Houston and San Antonio offices.
Boiler Control Technician:
- The successful applicant will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on industrial boilers, perform annual inspections to boilers.
- Candidate must be capable of troubleshooting, repairing and testing of all boiler controls and system components.
- Successful candidate must have a good working knowledge of fire-tube and water-tube boiler systems, industrial boiler/burner systems, preferably with various manufacturers equipment (Superior, Johnston, Cleaver Brooks, Nebraska, Powerflame, Todd, etc.), burners (gas, oil & combination), & associated controls, electrical circuits, combustion and piping. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
- The ideal candidate will be a self starter, able to work independently, and attention to detail is a must. Computer knowledge preferred, and experience on linkage less control highly desirable (AutoFlame, Honeywell, etc.) and knowledge of appropriate boiler related standards.
Project Manager
The largest service Company in the Southwest, Holman Boiler Works, Inc. a leader in the boiler industry seeks a Project Manager to join their organization!
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Coordinator of major projects both on site and in the field.
• Responsible for meeting budget estimates and implementing cost controls.
• Coordinate the interface between customer and company disciplines including, sales, service, engineering and operations.
• Technical competence in boilers, controls, burners and construction is extremely beneficial.
• Prefer experience working and managing in large projects.
Job Requirements:
- Experience with, and understanding of steam systems and related equipment.
- Prior duties to have included the ability to produce a budget, a work plan for construction, ability to negotiate contracts with sub-contractors and equipment suppliers, cost tracking experience, manpower planning,
- willingness to travel approx 50% of the time.
- The candidate would have had prior experience in a large industrial facility such as a refinery, chemical plant, or power plant.
- Field erected boiler experience is preferred.
- Experience estimating industrial type construction projects, including piping and control systems, material take offs, and the ability to read P&ID, and General Arrangement drawings is a requirement.
- College degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a trade school majoring in Construction Management or Project Management would be preferred.
- Candidate must be proficient with the following MS products, Project, Excel, and Word.

Welder (Combo/Pipe)
Combo or Pipe Welders for Holman Boiler Works. Must be experienced in boiler fabrication, retubing, pipe fitting and welding. Must meet ALL of the following requirements:
- Pass company’s weld test, using SMAW process, in 6G position on a 2" schedule 180 pipe (5/8 " thick), with a 6010 root pass and a 7018 filler and cap.
- ASME code: Mig, Tig & Stick
- Must have recent pipe and/or tube welding experience.
- Be able to travel.
- Work in confined & elevated areas.
- Able to lift 50 lbs or more.
- Must be able to pass screening for vision and hearing
- Must pass drug screen & criminal background check.
- Have a valid CURRENT driver’s license or Texas ID
